Welcome!
Get ready for an off-the-cuff musical comedy adventure unlike anything else! With decades of combined experience, the performers of Hit and Run: Musical Improv use audience suggestions to create completely improvised musicals and funny songs of all kinds. From the melodies to the lyrics and dancing, every show is different, and everything you'll see is made up on the spot. We don't know what we'll be singing about until you tell us!
HNR was born from a shadowy tryst in the sordid summer of 2006, and has expanded to two separate casts that perform regularly in the Denver, CO and Los Angeles, CA areas. And we would love to perform for you. And that means exactly what you think it means.
How Does This Work?
Good question! HNR does several types of shows.
In our improvised musicals, we get the suggestion of a title from the audience, and that title is the basis for a 30- to 60-minute-long completely improvised musical. Some titles we've gotten for past shows have been "My Cousin's Wedding", "The Sound of Screaming Elbows", "How Much Salt?" and "The Octopi Orchestra".
In our improvised Music Box shows, we perform standalone songs, scenes and games, each based on a different suggestion from the audience. We've sung songs about New Kids on the Block, tongue rings, administrative assistants, panties on a clothesline, Britney Spears, first tattoos... the list is endless.
Oh, and it's all pretty funny, especially if we get a suggestion we're completely clueless about.
All of this adds up to a unique musical comedy experience that is never the same twice. We hope to see you at a future show, and then at the next one too!
